I’m currently making a dress and have lined up a stuffed reindeer and also after finishing my first quilt this summer I’m eager to start another using up the scraps from the first. I’m also getting carried away with paper piecing and leave a trail of hexies and diamonds wherever I go.

I am sitting up here, on the Shetland Islands, where it is currently a very nasty day, raining sideways…but a look out of the kitchen window at the (rather wet) hills does cheer me up. I am currently making all the curtains, blinds, cushions and some quilts etc for our house as we are renovating an old croft house ourselves on basically no budget (surveyor estimated £20k of work, so far we have spent £2k and done most of it, but in the most scrimping and saving ways possible!) and with 3 little kids (6, 3 and 1) which can be a bit of a challenge at times!

Book bag charm for my daughter made out of her baby sisters old clothes (so she can feel like she takes a bit of her sister into school with her, so cute)as well as a bag charm for my friend (M for Mum made out of her daughters old clothes). Then there is a bag charm for a friends little girl made out of her younger sisters clothes and hopefully a personalised pencil case out of the same material. Then theres Christmas presents, decorations and hopefully before winter is finished refashioning and old coat, shortening some curtains and fixing some clothes.

Thanks for asking, now I have got round to doing my to do list too! :D

Using ‘beach huts’ fabric I’m making cushions and bunting for my little summerhouse (more of a posh shed – not as ostentatious as it sounds) and adding buttons etc as I go.
I want it to have a seaside theme as I live a long way inland from the coast which I miss very much.
The only trouble is that the summerhouse I recently ordered is lying in my garden waiting for someone to assemble it!!
My friends & family are laughing at me as I have nowhere to put my crafty projects :(

It’s not a crafty idea but it’s still handmade… I found little envelopes and filled them with a tablespoon of wildflower seeds. I wrote each person’s name on the front, to act as a placename, and wrote instructions on the back along the lines of: ‘Throw them onto a roundabout on your way home, or plant them in your garden. Whatever you decide to do, think of us and spread the love’.

It’s a bit hippy and a bit cheesy, but everyone loved it and I like the idea of the world being a bit prettier because of our marriage :) Good luck with your plans x

I am embarking on making items for my kids new bedrooms which will hopefully be habitable by Christmas. My first project is making cushions and bags mixing old and new fabrics by using patches and emblems from their favorite clothing that they have grown out of.

I am really eager to try making a skirt. Wish me luck!
